HTST Pasteurization Cooling: 72°C to 4°C in 15 Seconds

For High-Temperature Short-Time (HTST) pasteurization in dairy processing, the ZL-20T SS316L upgrade supports:

HTST process: Milk heated to 72°C for 15 seconds, then rapidly cooled to 4°C using plate heat exchanger and ZL-20T cooling water.

Heat load: 1,000 L/hour HTST line cooling load: 1,000 × 4.186 kJ/kg·°C × 68°C ΔT = 285 MJ/hour = 79 kW peak. ZL-20T 70 kW undersized for peak HTST (requires ZL-60T or larger); suitable for batch pasteurizers (200-500 L batches).

Batch pasteurization: 300 L milk heated to 63°C for 30 minutes, then cooled to 4°C. Cooling load: 300 × 4.186 × 59 = 74 MJ per batch. ZL-20T covers batch cooling in 60-90 minutes.

Plate heat exchanger configuration: ZL-20T cools the water side of plate HX. Cooling water flow 16 m³/h at 5°C range provides necessary heat transfer.

Sanitary standards: SS316L upgrade required for direct dairy contact. Tri-clamp connections for CIP compatibility.

Dairy Processing Plant Cooling Configuration

The ZL-20T integrates into dairy processing plant cooling systems:

Milk cooling: Bulk milk coolers from 35°C (cow temperature) to 4°C storage. ZL-20T supports farm bulk tank cooling at 500-1000 L capacity.

Cream pasteurization: Higher fat content requires gentler cooling profiles. ZL-20T 32°C leaving water maintains plate HX outlet temperatures within specification.

Yogurt incubation: After pasteurization, milk is cooled to 43°C for culture addition. ZL-20T control enables accurate incubation temperature.

Cheese making: Whey and curd cooling requirements vary. ZL-20T supports cheese vat cooling in artisanal operations.

Plant-wide cooling: Multiple ZL-20T units serve different processing areas (raw milk, pasteurization, packaging) with isolated cooling loops for sanitary compliance.

Brewery Wort Cooling: 100°C to 20°C in 30 Minutes

Brewery wort cooling uses ZL-20T SS316L upgrade for sanitary compliance:

Wort boiling to cooling: After boil, wort is cooled from 100°C to 20°C fermentation temperature. Cooling load: 500 L batch × 4.186 kJ/kg·°C × 80°C = 167 MJ per batch.

Plate heat exchanger cooling: Two-stage cooling (100°C to 50°C, then 50°C to 20°C) with ZL-20T providing cold water supply.

ZL-20T capacity: 167 MJ in 30 minutes = 9.3 kW peak per batch. ZL-20T 70 kW supports simultaneous batch cooling and fermentation temperature control.

Fermentation cooling: Active fermentation generates 5-10 kW per 1000 L fermenter. ZL-20T maintains 20°C fermentation temperature.

Sanitary design: SS316L upgrade and tri-clamp connections required for direct wort contact. CIP sanitization with 80°C hot water compatible.

For craft breweries, ZL-20T SS316L supports both wort cooling and fermentation temperature control in a single tower.

Food-Grade Water Contact: FDA 21 CFR Compliance

The ZL-20T SS316L upgrade complies with FDA 21 CFR for indirect food contact:
