High-Temperature Short-Time (HTST) pasteurization at 72 deg C for 15 seconds is the standard milk杀菌 process. After the holding tube, the milk must be cooled before packaging. The ZL-20T cooling tower supports the pre-cooling stage of this HTST line. A plate heat exchanger (PHE) uses ZL-20T leaving water at 32 deg C as the cooling medium on the cold side, dropping the milk from 72 deg C to approximately 32 deg C. Flow ratio: ZL-20T delivers 16 m3/h of 32 deg C water, suitable for HTST lines processing up to 1,500 L/h of milk in the pre-cooling stage. The regeneration section of the PHE also pre-heats incoming cold milk (4 deg C) using the outgoing hot milk (72 deg C), reducing thermal load on the ZL-20T and improving overall plant efficiency.
The final cooling stage of HTST pasteurization takes milk from 32 deg C down to 4 deg C for refrigerated storage. This step requires chilled water at 1 to 4 deg C, which a cooling tower cannot produce directly because ZL-20T leaving water is 32 deg C at design wet-bulb 27 deg C. The standard configuration uses ZL-20T as the condenser cooling tower for a chiller: ZL-20T supplies 32 deg C condenser water to the chiller, the chiller uses this to remove heat from the refrigerant, and the chiller outputs 4 deg C chilled water to the plate heat exchanger for the final cooling stage (32 deg C to 4 deg C). ZL-20T plays an indirect role in final cooling by enabling chiller operation, not by directly contacting the milk below 32 deg C.
The ZL-20T integrates into dairy processing plant cooling systems:
Milk cooling: Bulk milk coolers from 35°C (cow temperature) to 4°C storage. ZL-20T supports farm bulk tank cooling at 500-1000 L capacity.
Cream pasteurization: Higher fat content requires gentler cooling profiles. ZL-20T 32°C leaving water maintains plate HX outlet temperatures within specification.
Yogurt incubation: After pasteurization, milk is cooled to 43°C for culture addition. ZL-20T control enables accurate incubation temperature.

Wort boiling to cooling: After boil, wort is cooled from 100°C to 20°C fermentation temperature. Cooling load: 500 L batch × 4.186 kJ/kg·°C × 80°C = 167 MJ per batch.
Plate heat exchanger cooling: Two-stage cooling (100°C to 50°C, then 50°C to 20°C) with ZL-20T providing cold water supply.
ZL-20T capacity: 167 MJ in 30 minutes = 9.3 kW peak per batch. ZL-20T 70 kW supports simultaneous batch cooling and fermentation temperature control.
