The ZL-10T's 46 kg dry weight plus 190 kg operating weight (water-filled basin) creates a 236 kg total load on a 940x940 mm footprint — approximately 2.6 kN/m² ground pressure. Standard concrete pad specifications:
Pad dimensions: 600 × 600 × 150 mm (L × W × H) is the minimum for soil bearing capacity ≥25 kN/m². For weaker soils, increase pad area to 800 × 800 mm or 1,000 × 1,000 mm. Concrete: C25/30 mix (1:2:4 cement:sand:aggregate), reinforced with 6 mm mesh at 150 mm centers.
Mounting surface: Tower base flange bolts to embedded M10 × 80 mm anchor bolts (4 corners, 200 mm projection above pad). Use leveling shims (3 mm maximum stack height) to ensure tower is plumb — a 5 mm lean creates 0.5° misalignment, which the fan motor will fight against, increasing amp draw by 5-8%.
Drainage: Slope the pad surface 1-2% toward the basin drain side to direct overflow water to a floor drain or sump. Without proper pad drainage, overflow water pools under the tower, accelerating concrete degradation.
The ZL-10T's 1,820 mm height and 940 mm diameter present a frontal area of 0.94 m × 1.82 m = 1.71 m² to wind. For installation in open terrain (no surrounding buildings taller than the tower within 50 m), the design wind pressure is 0.5 kPa = 50 kgf/m²:
Lateral wind force on operating tower: 1.71 m² × 50 kgf/m² = 85.5 kgf at the tower's geometric center (height 910 mm). This force creates an overturning moment of 85.5 kgf × 0.91 m = 77.8 kgf·m about the base.
Required ballast: The 236 kg operating weight provides a restoring moment of 236 kgf × (0.94/2) = 110.9 kgf·m. The 77.8 kgf·m wind moment is comfortably resisted with a safety factor of 1.42. For taller installations or higher wind zones (coastal, mountain), consult the engineering tables in ZL-10T installation manual section 4.3.
For wind-exposed installations, additional tie-down straps to building structure are recommended. The ZL-10T base flange includes 4 anchor points designed for steel cable tie-downs (4 mm wire rope, breaking strength 1,800 kgf).
The ZL-10T's four water connections are flanged DN50 (2 inch) PVC-compatible fittings:
Inlet (hot water from chiller condenser): DN50 flange, mounted on the top water distribution header. Schedule 80 PVC or carbon steel piping recommended. Design flow 7.81 m³/h requires minimum 40 mm internal diameter (DN50 provides 50 mm — 25% margin).
Outlet (cooled water to chiller): DN50 flange, mounted on the basin side wall. Includes integrated stainless steel strainer (1.5 mm perforation) to prevent debris from entering the chiller.
Makeup water: DN15 (1/2 inch) threaded connection on the basin side wall. Connect to plant water supply through a float valve (supplied). Float valve setting: water level 50 mm below overflow level.
Overflow: DN50 connection at the basin top, piped to a floor drain or indirect waste receptor. Prevents basin overflow during pump failure or makeup valve malfunction.
Drain: DN50 bottom-mounted ball valve for basin drain-down during maintenance. Connect to floor drain via indirect waste pipe (air gap).
The ZL-10T's 46 kg dry weight is a significant advantage for installation logistics. Three installation scenarios are common:
Scenario 1 — Ground level installation: Two-person team can lift the tower directly from delivery truck onto prepared pad. No crane required. Typical time: 30 minutes for positioning + 2 hours for piping and electrical.
Scenario 2 — Rooftop installation (2-3 floor building): Use a portable gantry or chain hoist to lift the tower to the roof. With 46 kg dry weight, a single-rope manual hoist (rated 250 kg) is sufficient. Typical time: 1 hour for lift + 4 hours for piping and electrical.
Scenario 3 — High-rise rooftop (5+ floors): Use a small mobile crane (1-2 ton capacity) or building service elevator. With 46 kg dry weight, the tower can often be moved without disassembly — even if the elevator is rated only 100 kg per trip, the tower fits in 2-3 elevator trips after subassembly. Typical time: 2 hours for rigging + 6 hours for piping and electrical.
For all scenarios, lifting points are integrated into the tower's top frame — standard rigging hooks engage the 4 lift points for balanced lift.
The ZL-10T's fan motor requires 380V 3-phase 50Hz power supply. For installations where 3-phase is not available, single-phase operation requires a phase converter (typically a 1.5 kVA rotary or static converter).
Motor specification: 0.37 kW (0.5 HP), 380V ±3-phase, 50 Hz, 1,440 rpm, IP55 protection class, Class F insulation. Full load current: 1.2-1.5 amps (depending on power factor and motor manufacturer).
Overload protection: Thermal overload relay setting: 1.5 amps (1.0 × FLA). Phase failure relay required for installations with unstable 3-phase supply (common in rural or generator-backed installations).
Wiring: 3 × 1.5 mm² PVC-insulated copper cable from distribution board to motor junction box. Maximum cable run: 50 m without derating. For runs exceeding 50 m, upgrade to 3 × 2.5 mm² to limit voltage drop to <3%.
Control: Simple on/off switch with thermal overload. For variable-speed operation (energy saving at partial load), a VFD rated 0.75 kW (next size up) provides 30-60 Hz speed range.
Before initial startup, the EPC contractor completes this 12-point pre-commissioning checklist:
1. ✓ Pad surface level within ±3 mm/m (use 1 m straight edge). 2. ✓ Anchor bolts tight (torque to 35 Nm). 3. ✓ Tower plumb within 2 mm vertical deviation over full height. 4. ✓ Inlet/outlet piping flushed clean (no debris). 5. ✓ Makeup float valve operational, no leaks. 6. ✓ Drain valve closed, no leaks. 7. ✓ Overflow pipe unobstructed. 8. ✓ Motor rotation correct (verify arrow on fan housing matches). 9. ✓ Motor amp draw at full load within 10% of nameplate. 10. ✓ Electrical grounding verified (<10 ohms to ground). 11. ✓ Basin filled to operating level (50 mm below overflow). 12. ✓ Water treatment chemicals dosed per maintenance manual.
Document each check on the commissioning report form. Sign-off by EPC site engineer and customer's facility engineer required before final handover.
600 × 600 × 150 mm concrete pad (C25/30 mix, 6 mm mesh at 150 mm centers). Four M10 × 80 mm anchor bolts at corners. Pad level within ±3 mm/m. Pad slope 1-2% toward drain side.
0.5 kPa for open terrain installation. Lateral wind force 85.5 kgf at tower's geometric center (height 910 mm). Restoring moment from 236 kg operating weight: 110.9 kgf·m versus wind moment 77.8 kgf·m (safety factor 1.42).
DN50 inlet (top), DN50 outlet (basin side with strainer), DN15 makeup water (float valve), DN50 overflow, DN50 drain (ball valve). Schedule 80 PVC or carbon steel recommended.
46 kg dry weight allows two-person ground-level installation. For rooftop: portable gantry or chain hoist (rated 250 kg). For high-rise: 1-2 ton mobile crane. Four integrated lift points on the tower's top frame.
380V 3-phase 50Hz, 1.2-1.5 A full load current, 0.37 kW motor. Thermal overload set at 1.5 A. Wiring: 3 × 1.5 mm² PVC copper cable (50 m max), upgrade to 3 × 2.5 mm² for longer runs. VFD option for variable-speed operation.
